Prototyping

For a document which needs to be written from scratch, it is important to collect one or more prototypes of the similar type. For example, imagine that you are assigned to create a user manual for Corel PaintShop Pro. Corel PaintShop Pro is an image editing tool and imagine that there is no proper user manual available to describe the working of this desktop software package. Collect few similar user manual from net such as user manual of Adobe Photoshop as prototype. Use them as your sample and start creating the table of content.

Prototype will help in filling the gaps, identifying the flaws, and provides a maximum flaw-free document. Sample in prototyping represents any type of document that is used as a sample for creating a standard user manual. Reference in prototyping represents the similar type of document that is used as a reference to create a new document.
